1What the Roadmap is

The Life In Order Roadmap is your personal, private workbook for getting your affairs in order. It walks you through 35 short sections: your family, the people you trust, your Will and Lasting Powers of Attorney, your money and property, your digital life, and your wishes.

You don't need to finish it in one go. Fill in what you know, skip what you don't, and come back whenever you like. Alongside it, 30 Days to A Life In Order sends you one short email a day with one small task, starting the day after you buy.

2Getting started

  1. Check your email. A few minutes after you buy, you'll receive "Your Life In Order Roadmap access code" from support@alifeinorder.co.uk. If you can't see it, check your spam or junk folder.
  2. Press Open my Roadmap in that email. It works on a computer, tablet or phone; a laptop or desktop is easiest for longer answers.
  3. Type your access code and press Open my Roadmap. This device will remember you for 90 days.

  2. Decide about the tick box for health, religious and personal wishes (see section 6). It's your choice, and you can change your mind later.
  3. Press Start my Roadmap.

3Your access code

Your code looks like ROAD-XXXX-XXXX and is in your access-code email. You can type it in capitals or small letters, with or without the dashes.

Your code is personal to you It opens your Roadmap, so please keep it to yourself and keep the email somewhere safe. When your family need to see what you've written, give them a downloaded copy (section 8), not your code.

6Health, religious and personal wishes

Four sections are for health details and religious or other personal wishes:

The law treats this information with extra care, so we only store it if you agree. You'll see this statement with a tick box:

Please keep health and religious details in these four sections, so your choice covers them.

7Saving

You don't need to do anything. As you type, your answers save on this device straight away and, a few seconds after you stop, to your secure online copy. The top bar tells you where things are:

You seeWhat it means
Saving…Your latest answers are on their way to your online copy.
Saved online ✓ 14:13Everything is saved online, as of that time.
Offline — saved on this device, trying againYour internet connection dropped. Your answers are safe on this device and will go online by themselves when it's back.

If you try to close the page in the second or two before a save finishes, your browser will ask whether you want to leave. Choosing to stay lets it finish.

Use one device at a time Your Roadmap is saved as one copy. If you have it open on two devices at once, the last one to save wins. Finish on one device before you carry on with another.

The Save button

Press Save (top right) whenever you want copies to keep. A panel shows each step:

  1. Saved on this device
  2. Backup file downloaded: a small file with all your answers.
  3. Saved to your secure online copy
  4. Your PDF is ready: press Download my PDF. Preparing it can take up to a minute, so please keep the page open.

8Your PDF and backup file

Both files land in your device's Downloads folder with the date in the name, so the newest is easy to find. You can also get them from Your Data → Download Copies.

9Other devices and signing out

On another device, open the Roadmap and sign in with your access code. Your answers load by themselves.

On a shared or borrowed computer, open Your Data and press Sign out of this device when you've finished. It saves your answers online, then removes them from that computer. If someone else signs in on the same browser, your answers are cleared from it before theirs load.

10Sharing your Roadmap

In Your Data, press Share my roadmap PDF. On a phone or tablet your share menu opens, so you can send it by email or message. On a computer the PDF downloads, ready to attach.

Only the PDF is shared, never your code or a link, so nobody else can see or change your answers.

11Your year of access

Your access lasts one year from the day you buy, until the end of your end date (UK time). You'll find the date in your access-code email and in Your Data.

Renewing

Press Renew my access in the reminder bar or either email. Renewing adds a year to your current end date, so renewing early doesn't lose you any time. Your code and everything you've saved stay exactly as they are.

Renew with the same email address Please use the email address you bought with. A different address creates a new, empty Roadmap with a new code.

If you don't renew

When your access ends, signing in shows a page saying so. For 60 days we keep your saved Roadmap in case you change your mind: renew in that time and everything is still there. After 60 days it's permanently deleted. Any PDF or backup file you downloaded is yours to keep.

12Asking Kal for help

If your Roadmap uncovers things you'd like help with, you can request a Life & Legacy Review with Kal. Press Request a Life & Legacy Review in Know When To Get Help or My Commitment, or in the Day 21 and Day 30 emails. It opens an email to us: tell us what you'd like help with, what's prompting it now, and how far you've got with your Roadmap. We'll come back to you within three working days.

No email app? Email support@alifeinorder.co.uk with the subject "Life & Legacy Review request". Please don't send your Roadmap itself.

14Questions & help

It says "That code didn't work"

Check it against your access-code email; capitals and dashes don't matter. After 10 wrong tries we pause sign-in from that connection for an hour. If your access ended more than 60 days ago, your Roadmap has been deleted and the code no longer works; you're welcome to buy a new year's access and start again.

I've lost my code

Search your inbox for "Your Life In Order Roadmap access code", or email support@alifeinorder.co.uk from the address you bought with and we'll send it to you.

My answers aren't showing on another device

Check the first device shows Saved online ✓ and that you signed in with the same code. If both were open at once, the last one to save wins (section 7).

The PDF is taking a long time

It can take up to a minute for a full Roadmap. Keep the page open. If it doesn't finish, press Try again; your answers are safe either way.

Can I delete my information?

Yes. For the four health and wishes sections, use Clear this section or Withdraw my consent. To delete everything, email us from the address you bought with and we'll confirm when it's done. Files on your own devices are yours to delete.

Is this legal advice?

No. The Roadmap helps you organise your information and decisions. For Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, trusts or tax, take professional advice. A Life & Legacy Review (section 12) is a good place to start.
